Using the Quick Task Bar
Flow is great for keeping up with everything you need to do, from complicated projects to your simple, everyday tasks. You can save and organize them all in Flow with tags, lists, and more. But sometimes, you just need to quickly enter the tasks you need done without worrying about anything else.
That’s where the Flow Quick Task Bar comes in. Right at the bottom of your lists, or on the top of a new list, there’s a Quick Add bar that lets you quickly enter your tasks. Just click it or press Shift+Return on your keyboard to start adding tasks.

Just type in your task, and hit enter to save it. The Quick Add bar will automatically open again, so you can immediately type in another task and hit enter to save and start again. This way, you can quickly add everything you need to do in a list.

If you do need to add more info to your tasks, or change what you’d written, just double-click the task or click the pencil edit button on the far left. You’ll now see the normal task editor, where you can add tags and notes, assign the task to others, and more. Click Save when you’re done making changes, and you’ll see the new info on your tasks as normal.

And if you want to invite someone to a new task or add extra details like tags or a due date without switching to the Edit Task box, you can simply use our details shortcuts. You might recognize the syntax from Flow’s email integration—you can use the same shortcuts in the subject line of an email to tasks@getflow.com. Here’s a quick rundown:
- @name Delegates task to name
- +name Invites name to follow the task
- #tag Tags the task with your tag
- !tomorrow Sets the task’s due date to tomorrow
- [Ship Repairs] Sets the task list to Ship Repairs

You’ll see the Quick Add bar when you’re in your Inbox, Today view in the Upcoming page, or individual lists using the Manual sort view. If you don’t see the Quick Add bar, just click the Organize Tasks button in Flow’s top toolbar, and select Manual sorting. You should now see the Quick Add bar on the bottom of your list as normal. Once you’re done adding tasks, you can always switch back to your preferred sorting view if you’d like.
